Box Breath 4-4-4-4
Equal-ratio breathing. Steadies the nervous system and sharpens focus before deep work or a heavy session.
- Nose in, nose out. Mouth stays closed the entire time.
- Breathe into the belly first, then the ribs. Shoulders stay quiet.
- If the holds feel forced, drop to 3-3-3-3 and build up.
2 min · Focus and pre-training composure
Never practice breath holds in or near water, while driving, or standing up. If you feel dizzy, stop and breathe normally. Talk to your doctor first if you're pregnant or have a cardiovascular or respiratory condition.

The nervous system's remote control.
Breath is the only autonomic function you can consciously override. It's the fastest tool you have to shift state — up for training, down for recovery, steady for focus.
Learn a small number of patterns, practice them consistently, and pair them with your training. That's what these sessions are for.
A dedicated breathwork app is on the way
Cerebral Physique is building a stand-alone breathwork app for deeper protocols, guided audio and long-form sessions. What's here is the essentials — everything you need to complement your training and recovery today.
